A downloadable game for Windows

Play as Agent Lad in this top-down shoot-em-up, and put an end to the evil plans of the aliens on Planet-LD46!

Carry a delicate power cell to the center of the alien compound, and blow them to smithereens! But be careful, the power cell is very unstable and will explode if it’s left alone too long. Restabalize it by setting it near the Ludumdarians’ power generators!

You might be lucky enough to find the weapons of your other squadmates who never made it out of compound alive, but don’t expect the aliens to have extra bullets lying around.

Kill every alien you see, make your way to the center of the compound, insert the unstable power cell, and get rid of those filthy aliens for good!

It has its charm, but not without its flaws.

First of all, tutorial. Having a tutorial is definitely better than not having one, however one of the things I feel should be priority in a tutorial are controls, although the control scheme seems simple and is within the realm of common sense so that it's the first thing to come to mind, the tutorial doesn't bother presenting them, only telling you that right click lets you carry around objects. The tutorial not telling the player the very basics leaves them not knowing their limits when it comes to controlling their character, is there a run button? Can you switch weapons? Since the game just leaves you out to read about the game's other elements, the player is left out with the only way of discovering being trying every button they can think of.

The graphics are charming, however a bit bland sometimes. The map feels too samey, with too much gray spread all over. Said gray also mixes with some outlines from certain objects, like the power generators and the doors, making them look more like background objects and thus not something that important, I believe a darker outline on said elements would be a better option.

Now regarding gameplay, its basics were entertaining and the controls felt responsive, however the main gimmick of the game felt more of a bore than something to actually worry about, the power cell has too much health and the enemies seem to never directly attack it, leaving the optimal solution to just leave it at some power generator and kill the aliens in the room without much care. Adding to that you are forced to carry it through long hallways without much going on, which is simply a drag especially because you get slowed down when holding the power cell.

I assume you can't switch weapons once you pick one up since I've been unable to find any button related to it, if that holds true then the machine gun can be a bit of a bore, since it slows you down considerably and you can't get rid of it without wasting all your ammo first, which led to me favoring the standard pistol and shotgun, which is too loud when shot at point blank range but otherwise pretty good.

I didn't have any problems with it and I not many will have it, but I think having a quit button in the corner of the screen in a mouse-oriented game can be dangerous in case someone accidentally clicking on it and losing progress, just something to keep in mind.

The music was really good, although it could fit with the game's theme a bit better.

Overall it's an entertaining experience for a little time, seems like a good base, just needs some polishing.
Also unrelated but one time I've managed to somehow have Lad hold his shotgun upside-down, I just found that amusing for some reason.

I'll preface this by saying that I'm an acquaintance of one of the artists.

I think this game is a great proof of concept with some really enjoyable art, but it seems a bit too forgiving for the feeling that I was expecting based on the appearances of the doom guy lad, aliens, and the general nuclear/industrial aesthetic of environment and nuclear baby that you carry around.

Problems that I see with the game:
Healing the nuclear baby at pylons isn't telegraphed enough, nor is the range of the pylons, which isn't telegraphed at all. Some sort of radiation aura would do wonders for both purposes.

The nuclear baby is too durable, and I don't know if I like there being a time component to its durability, especially when there are very long roads between some level blocks.

It felt strange to beat a boss alien just to have the screen fade to black, rather than continue down another hallway.

Overall, it's an interesting start, though it only held my attention for about eight minutes.

Hello I am Ruby and I suffer from not liking games illness however this amazing game from the overworld cured this terrible disease so thank you developers! The art is specially nice C; hahaha best game jam ever should be in the top 10 to be honest. Honestly this game tops games like Poptropica for the 3ds for it's outstanding quality and incredible level design and dialogue that makes it stand out as one of the best games of the decade. In fact I'll say it ranks 2nd place on the top 10 best games ever! Just below Call Of Duty: Black Ops Wii Edition!

This is the best game I have ever played. The combat is enjoyable, the gameplay is thrilling, and the art (especially for agent lad) is a masterpiece. The only gripe I have is how distracting agent lad can be sometimes; I can't help myself from getting turned on mid battle due to agent lad's swole, secsy body. Overall an amazing experience, I definitely would recommend.
